Within
About the Series
Within explores the richness of contemporary womanhood through intimate portraits inspired by everyday life. Rooted in the visual traditions of Madhubani art yet interpreted through a modern lens, the series celebrates women not through extraordinary achievements alone, but through the ordinary rituals that define who they are.
Reading, making music, sharing tea, pursuing education, creating art, or simply pausing in reflection—these moments become symbols of identity, independence, and personal fulfillment. Each painting invites viewers to recognize the beauty that exists within everyday experiences and the many roles women embrace throughout their lives.
The Story
The idea for Within grew from observing the women around me and the many roles they navigate each day. Beyond titles and responsibilities, I became fascinated by the small moments that often go unnoticed—the quiet rituals, personal passions, and simple joys that reveal individuality.
Through contemporary interpretations of Madhubani art, I began portraying women not as idealized figures, but as reflections of modern life. Each painting captures a different facet of contemporary womanhood while celebrating the strength, grace, creativity, and authenticity that already exist within us.
Every painting explores one aspect of the inner life of the contemporary woman through an everyday ritual or passion.
